Selection process overview
To ensure a fair and equitable distribution of all 22 Nastia Liukin Cup (NLCup) series events across all Women’s (WAG) regions, the selection process considers the number of applications received from each of the 8 regions. The goal is to allocate events in proportion to the level of interest and demand from each region, providing opportunities that reflect the regional distribution of applicants.
- Proportional Representation: Meet Hosts in each of the 8 regions submit applications for consideration to be included in the Nastia Liukin Cup series qualifying events. To ensure the selection process reflects the regional demand, events will be allocated based on the percentage of total applications received from each region.
- Calculation: The total number of applications from each region is compared to the overall total applications received. The number of events assigned to each region is determined by calculating the proportion of the region’s applications relative to the total. This method ensures that regions with a higher volume of applications are given a greater number of event opportunities, while regions with fewer applications still receive fair representation.
- Event Distribution: The following method was used to allocate the 22 NLCup series events across regions:
- For each region, the percentage of applications submitted is calculated.
- This percentage is then applied to the total pool of 22 NLCup series events to determine the number of events allocated to each region. In regions where fractional events result, rounding is done to ensure that each region receives a whole number of events.
- As a result, regions with a larger share of applications will receive a higher proportion of events, while smaller regions with fewer applications will receive fewer events, in alignment with the overall application distribution.
By using this method, the event allocation is aligned with regional interest, ensuring that no region is over or underrepresented based solely on application volume. This approach ensures that the selection process is transparent, equitable, and reflective of the unique needs and demands of each region, providing fair opportunities for applicants across the entire region.
