USA Gymnastics announced today the schedule for the 2016 Nastia Liukin Cup Series, which kicks off January 8, 2016. The invitational meets in the Series will determine the gymnasts who will compete in the Nastia Liukin Cup inside the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on March 4, 2016.

Maddie Karr’s last trip to the Nastia Liukin Cup ended with a 15th-place finish. But the Stillwater, Minn., native proved that she was up to the challenge of not only qualifying for the 2015 competition, but winning.

Maddie Karr of Champlin, Minn./Twin City Twisters and Kiya Johnson of Desoto, Texas/Texas Dreams, won the senior and junior all-around titles at the 2015 Nastia Liukin Cup at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

For the athletes at the Nastia Liukin Cup, meeting the 5-time Olympic medalist is as big of a thrill as competing in the event itself.

The AT&T American Cup, the USA’s most prestigious international invitational, will make its New Jersey debut at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on March 5, 2016.
